Welcome to Stratford Internal Medicine! Dr. Lawrence J. Schouten leads the practice and is a board certified Internist who has been practicing in the Bloomingdale area since 1984.
Dr. Schouten was born and raised on Chicago's far South side in the Roseland community. After studying mathematics at Loyola University and I.I.T., he taught high school math for five years. He received his M.D. degree from Northwestern University where he also did his medical residency. He is a member of the American Medical Association and Dupage Valley Physicians Group.
Dr. Schouten specializes in adult medicine. Some of his clinical interests include Diabetic Management, Hypertension, Cholesterol Management, Thyroid Disorders, Women's Health Issues, Wellness Care, and Preventative Medicine.
Although his major focus as an internist is on the "healthy body", he is a strong advocate for defining health in terms of a healthy body, mind, and spirit. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Dashie and daughter, Alana, and with family and friends. Interests include computers, games, puzzles, bicycling, sports, and teaching.
